apparently, my car is ready but they r waiting to see if the BMW will do something about my tires. i should hear back from my SA sometimes today.

just got a call from my SA. BMW replaced all 4 tires, free of charge! WHOOOOOOHOOOOOOO new SW installed. SA said it's 17.2 (i guess he meant 16.2). I am going to pick up my baby around 5PM today. can't wait

16.2 looks pretty good. it seems like it's booting up faster now (i was on 13.x). moving through menus seems faster as well. let's hope it will stay like that whole the time.

new tires are awesome. they are dunlops still. no more noise.

steering seems lighter at slower speeds.

didn't drive much today. i'll check it out more tomorrow.

one thing that i've noticed is that i-drive says i have 15k miles until the next oil change while the board computer (dash board) says i have 10k miles left. hmmmm... that's weird. i just changed oil few days ago. maybe something got screwed up....

Hi...I'm new to this forum but have been reading numerous posts about this 16.2 software upgrade... I just got a 2005 545i, do I still need that upgrade??

You probably do, especially if the car's been sitting in some dealer lot for months. Some people have even reported that cars coming direct from the factory are arriving with very old versions of the software.

Find out the build date of the car. If its after March 01, 2005, you should have a 16.2 version. My March 2, Euro-delivery 545 came with 16.2.

NOPE!

New E60's ALLWAYS have the newest available software!

The day they get build they get the neweset available software. So a new E60 has the newest software earlier than some dealers!
