I believe they offer the "book price" for age, mileage, pre-accident condition etc etc. BUT... continued ownership of a running car is always worth more to an owner than an enforced sale and replacement.

For example if you buy a car from new, the first year's rate of depreciation is much higher than the annualised rate of depreciation over the first two years of ownership.

Did the police attent the scene and confirm he was above the permissible drinking level. If they did, then you are in the clear and this should not affect your insurance claims record at all.

Here in the UK the insurance should pay the market value of the car just before the accident. You can always dispitue any figure wih the i9nsurance. I did this by looking at adverts by private or trade sellers. They would ususally do the right thing especially if the car is less than 3 years old.

I am glad your are OK and that's all what matters. Goodluck with the car and I hope all works for the best.

it was a bmw E46 sedan witch was total loss. I hit it on the rear driver side door. O,3 inch more to the front and he was dead i am sure. Car was total also. Driver was ok because he was protected by his reat seat back.
