Cracking sound from E60 dashboard

I don't think a crackling sound best describes the noise caused by the strut brace. Usually when someone complains about a crackling sound it's from the upper door seals.

You absolutly right about the strut making a cracking sound by the windshield or top of dashboard. I had the same issue, my delaer changed the deffective bolts and re-torque them to original specification and that annoying cracking sound is GONE.

Yes they did, the service advisor took it for a spin and he recognized it right away as the strut bar. He tightened it up and no more creaking.
