hey guys,

I was going 5 S/B in Los Angeles and out of nowhere this rock came straight to my windshield and cracked it. Just called Alexander BMW and it's pretty costy....
it's about 3inch damage... I called several places and they only replace it rather than fixing it. Do you guys know any place where they might fix the cracked windshield???? help me...

I do. American Auto Glass in El Monte I believe. Did my GF Cooper a bit a go, I remember pricing my 525 out and it was 700 min, I have the number. Oh Also he uses PPG. For repairs he'll need to see it.

Vegamin,

Some chips are beyond repair and its more trouble than its worth... im not sure about your situation. Also, if you have rain sensors on your OEM BMW windshield its probably better that you get it done at the dealership. Just my two cents since I had mine done about 7 months ago. Good Luck sir.

By the way I'm not sure how much it cost beacuse they replaced it for free when I bought the CPO car. I heard it can get pricey.

It always depends upon the size and location of the crack as to whether it has to be replaced or repaired!

I am a insurance agent, florida law states that your insurance company has to replace your front windshield no matter what without a dedutable, so in this case for free. I dont know how the laws in CA are.

Replace them with oem! My rain sensors don't work because of aftermarket windshield. GL.

a small rock hit my sunroof and it exploded ....

You can not replace just the glass you must purchase a sunroof ... cost $1400 labour $1000 .... $2500 replacement job.

Apparntly "exploding sunroof" is common for x3 and e90s.

Moonroof and side windows are tempered glass ... designed to break up into fragments and the effect is somewhat like the panel 'exploding'. Windshield is laminated and behaves differently. I don't think you're going to find that a 3" crack can be repaired.

Good advice about checking with your insurance company regarding comprehensive coverage. Every state is different. If your company has reduced or no deductible for repair I suggest you have it done at a dealer. Other large auto glass repair companies use good products but fitment is critical to avoid problems with associated electronics and potential for leaks.
