Could be a rough XMAS, "Steering Malfunction Light"
#1
The "Steering Malfunction" light has been showing up for the last month or so when the engine has been cold. I've been turning the wheel to the left and right to reset the light. This was working. At least for awhile. But within the last couple days the light stays on. Then I noticed a fluid leak that has been progressively getting worse in the same period.
So I took it in today. The mechanic told me there is definitely a bad leak, but the engine was so dirty from the different fluid leaks that he needed to steam clean the engine before he could render an accurate diagnosis. I am hoping against all hope that when the engine is cleaned, there will be a small hydraulic fluid leak that can be easily fixed.
If anyone has experience with the "steering malfunction" light and leaking of, what I think is the power steering fluid, please let me know. Particularly, I'd love to hear if there is a way out of this mess without having to spend a thousand dollars.

Check the air valve and make sure it's tight. Mine was leaking for awhile and couldnt find it anywhere until last week. Tighten 10mm nut on the valve and fixed it.
