BMW 2004 530I
Took my car into shop because the battery was draining overnight only
1: car starts with jump
2: car battery tested ok out of car and overnight
3: Car will run fine the whole day untill it is parked overnight ..
Looks like the car is not going to sleep ... but does it require all those parts to be changed ? ......

No, that sounds like a shotgun blast approach to me. Did he mention anything about your intelligent battery sensor (IBS)? Was this a dealership or an independent?

Yep ,
He said he took disconnected the IBS but there was still a draw from three other modules
DME (1.28 amps) CAS (1.3 amps) and Micro Power Module
His theory is the Micro Power Module was replaced but never encoded and the CAS and DME never went to sleep and over heated as a result .. Has anybody else had these kinds of issues ?

Find a new mechanic.
Try swapping a new MPM in, they're $100 new and take thirty seconds to replace. While you're at it, if the MPM hasn't been relocated from the trunk floor get some zip-ties and locate it to the left side of the trunk compartment so that it doesn't get wet if water makes it's way into the trunk. It's a well known issue on early build E60s, and BMW has a TSB out for it.
new MPM if it isn't passing tests, load test your battery to make sure it isn't toast at this point. If battery checks out OK see how the car responds with a new MPM.
good luck.

Hey Kyle . Thanks for the reply ! Do you have any leads on where I can pick up an MDM for 100 ? Again thanks for the feedback . ! I am gonna tell the mechanic to put it back together and let me drive away . He already wants 500 just to trouble shoot the problem ...

The MPM is essentially a canbus actuvated relay which in turn powers non-safety-essential things like the i-drive. withthe MPM plugged in and active there will be a substancial current draw as thats what its supposed to do. To test the MPM you will notice theres thick wires and thin wires, if all the thick wires are live and you diagnistic machine tells you the MPM should be inactive, then its faulty, the MPM goes to sleep after a set amount of inactivity in the car, Im sure it took either 30 mins or 2 hours last time i checked lol. So a good DIY test would be to open the boot, "latch" the boot with a screwdriver so it thinks it closed, lock the car(boot still open) leave it for 2 hours then test all the fat wires going to the mpm, if there live, then either the MPM is being kept awake or it is indeed faulty.
As said aboce they are not coded, if in doubt, see in a member on here will let you borrow theres briefly.
If on the slim chance it is faulty, any electronics engineer can repair it. there very simple.
