My Ride: Due in May 2005 - 535d sport, Silver Grey, Grey Dakota Leather, Maple Wood, Xenons, Adaptive Headlights, High Gloss Shadow Line, 6 CD Changer, M Rear Spoiler

I need 2 new tyres for the 18 inch M sport wheels, profile is 245/40.

Main dealer has quoted me ?509 for the pair. This is for the Goodyear runflats.

Wondered what prices others had paid/been quoted?

Thanks

Bracknell Tyres ( Berkshire, not too far? ) replaced my damaged 18'' Dunlop runflat for about ?150, compared to dealers ?225. Great service & no damage to wheel, but you have to wait as they are very busy. You'll have to call beforehand so they can get the tyre in for you.

Unfortunatly Runflats are expensive and it would seem apart from the safety issue there is no additional benefit in ride quality See the many posts on the subject in this forum. I purchased the same wheels as you and bought 4 Dunlop SP Sport 9000 Cost ?100 each from local tyre wholesaler (cash only)....make your own arrangement for fitting. But it shows the difference in price as opposed to RFTS. Your choice

You may want to try this site - not sure if they have the runflats though:

http://www.blackcircles.com

...but lots of choice, info and quotes inclusive of mobile fitting.

Try Micheldever Tyres they have a VERY good reputation.

I would expect the price to be closer to ?450 the pair.

Thanks for your thoughts. I always know they wouldn't be cheap, but hopefully can get a pair for somewhat less than ?500. Will check put the dealers suggested.

They're ?159 each delivered from mytyres. Ask them how much to fit - usually ?10 per wheel. I make that ?340 max... That stops over ?160 going to your stealer...

You may find their price will drop when you mention the above... (Indeed my dealer matched the price suddenly!)

My tyres are good prices, also Value tyres.co.uk

Only downside of online buying is in the rare incidence of a tyre problem.

The fitters will not be interested in you as you bought them from somewhere else, so you will need to tackle the company you bought from. Not easy when they are an online company.

if you buy and have fitted locally you can go back to them and it is thier problem to sort it out. There is no argument about who is responsible.

Fair observation - need to be careful about balancing as I have often had to go back to Kwikfit etc and complain.

I think the Bridgestone run flats are the best of a bad bunch and mytyres.com do them for ?167 each.

However I would get rid of the lot and go for 4x Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 at ?488 or 4x Michilen PS2's at ?620.

I can sell you 4 bridgestones slightly used for ?75 each, I want some real tyres and not these run flats!!
