My Ride: 2006 530xi. Deep green with beige interior. 6 speed manual. Premium package.
The niftiest thing on my car is the numbers on the gearshift knob light up
It is the red lights on the ceiling that beam down and light up the silver numbers
Just wanted to say I think that this is really cool and it is one of those things that makes the BMW a BMW

Yes, I agree the soft red lighting is neat, but Audi (including my 2000 A6 2.7T) had this lighting in several interior locations before BMW adopted it.
So I guess this is one of those things that makes the BMW like an Audi.

Oh Yes, the "Ambiance Lighting".
Defintely has the coolness factor.
One of the things that the ladies observe/mention when they ride in my E60!

Well, I'm not so sure about the indirect lighting being an Audi "first." BMW has lit their instrument cluster with indirect (overhead) lighting since the 70s--when they first went to red lights. Dunno when Audi started using the LED technique, but I never noticed it until recently.
Cheers,

My Ride: '05 545i - scheduled for ED pickup in Munich on 7/22!
The door handles are also lit by small lights.
This is pretty cool, but I wouldn't say its the coolest feature in the car....I'd have to say bluetooth and SMG are the coolest.
