Coolant Leak From Engine - hope not transfer pipe

I wanted to follow-up on this. Turns out it was the dreaded transfer cooling pipe seal. The seal would expand with heat shutting off the leak. I ended up replacing it myself with the All-German-Auto expanding pipe. It worked perfect. I'm writing up a DIY so others can tackle it. Will post soon.

Good to hear. I had the same problem addressed at 126K on my 2005 545i. They used the same part and with a nice discount the total job was expensive but not out of control. The leak was discovered during a brake job; they saw dried coolant spots up and down the exhaust pipes leading from behind the engine. Also I would sometimes smell coolant while at idle for a few months before that - a warning sign.

In fact, I'm just interested in the intake manifold removal part

Hi tau1, just curious as to how much did it cost you to the get the issue fixed? Did you find anything else while doing the fix?
