Coolant how much?

Guys
My wife's car went in for it's first service at 13000miles and a year old. On the way back it said coolant level low on turning corners. I topped it up today and it took 3/4 litre! Is that right?
Seems a little excessive to me. The garage don't check it because its an oil service only!.
