I took my car in for servicing and the dealer said that the coolant in the car is a non bmw color. It is sort of a yellow brown. I know the coolant that you purchase at the bmw service counter is blue.

Even though I purchased the car used, I find this strange as it is no accident car with full service records, and there is no mention of a coolant service. It is a 2006 530i. The dealer wants $170 to put the BMW coolant in the car.

I was wondering what coolant color other people got from the factory.

HUmmm this sounds very familiar... there was an issue with brown coolent with the MINIs back in 2003 and the dealers ended up flushing the coolent system for a lot of people including me.

I havent heard about it on the E60s yet...

I'll have to check my E60 to see what the color is. Maybe some other people can chime in also. Another feature of BMW engineering??
