Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to share a little with you all about my experience while driving in southern Virginia while we had around 12 inches of snow fall this holiday weekend. I just recently purchased a set of Continental Extreme contact DWS for my 07' 550i with 18 inch wheels. All thru the weekend there was between 1 to 3 inches of accumulated snow constantly on the roadways. The DWS tires performed very well with limited wheel slip even with the high amount of torque from my 550i. Front end grip was also very exceptional with no problems in steering response with little to no under steer and braking was not as sensitive as I thought it might be, instead of braking extremely early I just had to be a little more cautious than normal. Road noise is considerably decreased from my previous set of Nitto's also.
The only Con I have about these tires are that the profile is a little higher than my last set which were the same size. Even though they are the OEM size for the 18" wheel package the tires don?t feel as responsive in high speed corners, you can feel that the sidewall is not as rigid as my previous set.
On another note, I was looking at my exhaust while it was extremely cold and noticed there was only noticeable exhaust coming out of my left tip and not my right one. even when I have my brother watch as I reved the engine he said that he only saw exhaust coming out of one tip and when I put my hand up to the tips I only felt exhaust coming from the left side. is this a serious problem?
I hope that this will help anyone looking to purchase a new set of All season tires. Anyone who would like to further research these tire and get all of the specific specifications can go to the link below.

Thanks for your review of the Conti's ...Did you make your TireRack purchase thru the MrRebates link in my signature and earned some rebate cash?

If I recall there is a mechanism that routes exhaust to one of the two rear mufflers under cold operating conditions or at lower engine speeds. If I'm correct the situation you described is "normal". It'd be helpful is one of our resident experts could chime in!

Unfortunatly no, I did not get any rebates but, it's nice to know that I can do that when I buy new ruber for my wifes camaro, Thanks!
That's too bad -- if you do any on-line shopping there are hundreds of stores -- I shop everything on-line (even hotel reservations) thru Mr Rebates.

I also have these for my 07 550 but on a set 19" 166 wheels. Great tire have not tried them in the snow yet but excellent wet and dry traction compared to run flats.

I ran DW in front and DW's in my rear to begin with -
Then I switched to DWS in front and stayed with DW's in the rear. I dont intend to drive my car in the snow but its really nice to know that the DWS perform great in snow.
I have a BMW 530i and I would not even think of hitting the snow with the summer tire.
Take it from the guy who has had both kind of tires on the same car -- The DWS's are a little lound when compared to the DW's
Whats the difference I would say 25%, One that you can notice.

I must be the only guy on the planet that does NOT like the conti DWS, the reviews are great which is why I bought them. But BEWARE, I found them to be a VERY loud tire on most surfaces with significant tread noise between 50 and 55 mph, it reminds me of the loud hum you get with straight snow tires. They sound ridiculous. I have 1000 miles on them but the dealer said he will take them back and replace with whatever else I want to put on, still trying to decide on a replacement.
