Hi,

I've seen mentioned on here people who are running some software on laptops which are connected to the car and allows them to see all the car's parameters and fault codes. I'm quite curious in keeping an eye on water temperature as I'm not sure the car is getting up to temperature. Is there an idiots guide to getting this software and how to use it?

I realise there is some hack that can be done which shows some diagnostics on the dashboard screen, but I think the laptop would be more useful for me.

Thanks.

You can monitor the coolant temperature just by pressing the trip reset button the correct way the correct number of times. There's a knack but once you can do it menu 7 shows the coolant temperature in degrees C. It's the best way to monitor the coolant temperature when driving.

Google or search the site for "hidden menu".

Yep, that was the hack I was on about. I figured it would be nicer to have a more informative display on the laptop rather than those hidden menus on the small screen on the dash. However, it seems these other systems can be quite pricey.

Thanks for all the links folks!
