In trying to "Build your Car" on the US website, I cannot seem to add a "MSport" package to a 535xi, just to a 550i.

In Canada, I am getting a 535xi with the MSport package, which, up here, includes Anthracite headliner, Style 135M wheels with 245/40-18 performance tires, Matte Black Shadow Line, M Aerodynamic package, M Multi-function Leather Sport Steering Wheel, and Sport Seats.

In the US website, only the "Sport Package" (not MSport) is available on the 535xi; thus it would appear that the body styled Aerodynamic package is not available in the US for a 535xi. Is this correct?

There are many differences between the ordering systems in the US and Canada, eg. here all cars have the "Cold Weather Package" as standard equipment in the base price. In the US, it's an option.

Am I correct then in assuming that the MSport package is not available on a 535xi in the US??

Still worth buying down here though, eh? With the respective dollar values, it's a great arbitrage play!

If my numbers are right, a base 535xi in Canada is 71,500 Canadian dollars and a base 535xi in the US is about 48,000 Canadian dollars. The base cars may include different standard equipment levels, but 23,500 dollars (US or Canadian) buys a lot of options!!

No question about it, the US prices for Canadian cash buyers are much less than here. I figure about $12 to $13K on my ordered car once fees, taxes and other govt levies paid, and some Cdn regulation items are done. Unfortunately, due to a 2 vehicle trade in situation, and my deal having been ongoing with the local dealer since July, I cannot buy in the US this time. Who knows where the US vs Cdn dollar will be in a few years time?

Unfortunately, us Canadians pay about a 20% premium over US pricing to get the ability to order that M-Sport package. I have been seriously looking at walking away from my deposit and car on order because the price difference of US vs. Canada.

Yes, you are right. I have my appointment to pick up my car tomorrow. Right now I have a guy working on getting me exact numbers on a comparable out of a dealership in Oregon. With no US MSport on 535, I would move to 550 and still save considerable dollars. The american comparable landed in Vancouver would be $8000 cheaper, 550 vs 535, and have about $4000 in options more. On the other hand I could be enjoying the model I wanted this time tomorrow. I think I just let the US purchase go too long. I should have jumped on it earlier. Meanwhile, I have voiced my concerns to our local dealer and they have offered to further reduce lease rate to 3.9%. They know I am ready to walk.

Yes, good luck, FRANK970. Your ordered car does sound great, tho.

Does the price differential you quoted include all the levies/tax you would have to pay to bring it into Canada?
