Thumbs up

Anyone got a week 9 delivery spec car yet with all the mods?
I'm interested to know what "Comfort Stop" is like. (The system that releases the brakes split seconds before the car comes to a halt making the ride less jerky for passengers.)

Personally I don't like the idea of something messing with my braking.

So you dont like ABS or DSC ?

It does not totally release the brakes, just releases a slight amunt of pressure to make the stop "soft". It is supposed not to add any distance to the stop

Yeah, but when I'm night racing and decide I don't want adaptive headlights moving across the racetrack, I also don't want anything releasing my brakes when I pull into the pits for a quick splash-and-go!

is this included as standart on all models/transitions?

i mean, its not really necessary - ive been able to do this ever since about a two days after i started driving - and do it uncontiously in all my cars (volvo v70, bmw 750iL and X3).

its never been a problem before, and if it aint broke - should we really be trying to fix it?

This may be a stupid question!, but I am sure my car has old software which could be improved with an upgrade, eg no TMC/mirrors do not automatically fold/+ other benefits I have read posts about. Do BMW dealers in Uk upgrade free of charge to later software ?, or do they charge for this. I have called service before regarding TMC & basically was told that as it has never worked, it is not a fault, so I was kind of fobbed off. I wasn't too bothered so didn't pursue it. But could I insist on upgrade so that the car works to its full potential?

I had it in my MB E-class and found it a waste of technology.
I can put my car more comfortable to a stop than any computer could do that.

BTW, you took delivery of your new 535 already?

if you have Business Nav and have a recent Nav disk 2004-1 or later then TMC will work if you get your software update to v13.1 or later so your dealer is telling you porkies.

I have TMC working with BusNav and it has been working for some time, don't let them fob you off.

On the question of folding mirrors i assume you actually have folding mirrors specced on the car and have the button nr the window switches that folds them? if YES and you just mean why don't they fold when you lock the doors via the remote than that is something you need to have activated, its not default. Just ask the dealer to set it on your car and then when you hold down the "lock doors" button for more than 1 sec the mirrors will fold in.
