Never tried sport seats but the comfort seats are something else. The independently adjustable upper back is a must. If you do want to start chucking it around the corners just pump up the lateral support. You would think that thigh support was only for people with long legs. My wife is 5'4" and she uses thigh support for optimum comfort.

In all the cars I have previously owed the head rest are only for sleeping on, with comfort seats the head rests can actually be used for day to day use. Also it must depend on size, I am 6'1" and weigh 105kG, seats are good for a 350 mile trip.

Go for the comfort seats

Keep in mind that having a headrest you can use while driving may not be the safest thing in the world. There's a reason most cars don't have this, it's called staying awake. Also, the sport seats have great adjustable thigh support as well.

It?s a matter of price and weight too. Comfort seats = aprox 20 kg more x 2

Well, that is not entirely correct. You are referring to a Swedish review which missed an important part of the info.

The standard seats are just slightly less heavy compared to sport seats which are then slightly less heavy than the comfort seats. BUT if you add electronically adjustable chairs (any kind) then they will be much heavier becuase of all the electronic motors. Yes, there are a few more in the Comfort seats but according to BMW.de the weight difference is as follows (e-adjustable within brackets)

Standard chairs 17 kg (32 kg)
Sport seats 15 kg (34 kg)
Comfort seats 20 kg (39 kg)

So with comfort seats compared to standard seats no e-adj. the difference would be 22 kg but standard seats WITH e-adj. would give a diff compared to comfort seats with just 7 kg.

I prefer seats with e-adj. and 7 kg up against standard seats and 5 kg up vs sport seats does not matter to me. I can skip breakfast and save more than that:-)

I have upgraded to the comfort seats in my 535d Sport after trying both types on test drives.

530dse,

I notice you had active steering on your old car but have not opted for it again on your 535d. I did the same! Also I see you are going for the HiFi, If you haven't heard it yet you're gonna love it.

As a comfort-seat driver, I am happy as a clam with my seats. Just had a 330 mile trip yesterday with them and was more comfy than I have ever been after such a drive. GREAT seats!

By the way, this is also one very quiet car. Most of the noise came from the A/C fan, even at 80+ mph.

I currently have a loaner with standard seats.
After driving it only ten minutes I have back problems... Damn, I love the comfort seats and miss my car...

I'd like to see a headrest retrofit option for sport seats. I'm pretty happy with the sports seats and coundn't justify the $1100 for comfort but I'd love to have a better headrest.... Someone couldn't make a nice little side business doing this as I imagine lots of people with both sports and regular seats would like the "winged" headrest that was actually a "rest" vs. "restraint."

Sounds like you know the basics just fine!

Sport seats and no regrets. Of course I've never sat in the comfort seats, so I can't miss what I've never had...

I had the sport seats in my 2005 545i, they were the most uncomfortable ever.... way too much lumbar.... very very annoying that BMW doesn't let you adjust it out.... only MORE and MORE lumbar...
