Any experience with either of them? How different are they compared to standard seats? Has anyone taken up the lumbar support option with either the standard of sports seats??

BMW seats in general are all very good but the comfort seats are outstanding and well worth a look. I had them on my 545 and they are now standard in the US sport pack with my 550 and I highly recommend them. Personally I think they are a little "sportier" than the standard sport seats (seem to provide better lateral grip) and they are easily adjustable. Even if they weren't part of the 06/07 sport pack I would have ordered them as a standalone option. Let us know what you decide!

Even for the $1,200 I spent for them on my 2005 545, they are an incredible bargain!
There are ZERO downsides from my experience, except for maybe having too many adjustments . As swajames mentioned, you can narrow the side bolsters so they are snug even for the slender among us. I also took a trip (about 1,000 miles each way) and never was fatigued, which I found amazing. I just wish they were available as office chairs!
Plus, an added bonus is that they are safer than sport seats - I believe they have anti-whiplash protection or something similar.

I would go with the comfort seats, as they give you so many different ways to adjust your seat......
I have them on my current 545, but I was considering getting the Sport seats for my new 550. So while ordering the car, i had the dealer bring around two cars with sports and comfort.............hands down, FOR ME, i stuck with the comfort seats.
Go to the dealer and sit in both..................
my 2 cents............( Cdn $ ).............

Thx for the replies. I'm doing research on a possible purchase of a E60, but as cars here are taxed heavily (including optional equipment), one cannot be careless in choosing the right things.

My Ride: 545i - ordered in January delivered April 21st! Black Sapphire Metallic, Black Dakota Leather, Anthracite Maple.
Do the comfort - I have the sport seats and wish I would have asked the question if they came with the sport package in 05. "the manual stated they were part of it when in reality theyweren't"

I had an '04 with the Sport Seats, and they were quite nice. Last month, I bought an '07 (which got rear ended a week ago Friday just before I was leaving for vacation )...
In any event, the '07 has the comfort seats, and I would HIGHLY recommend them. They are extremely comfortable!

I have lumbar on my comfort seats. I don't need much lumbar support, but my wife likes/uses this feature a lot on her X5.
