Update:
The comfort seat headrests DO NOT fit the sport seats. The support arms on the comfort headrests have larger diameter poles which do not fit through the mounting points in the plastic bracket at the top of the seat backrest. Luckily my dealer accepted that they had said the parts would fit and agreed to take them back. This is a bit of a disappointment as they looked really good and would have provided better support.
Come on BMW, sort out the poor standard headrest design in these cars.

Typical BMW if you ask me, anything remotely cool on this car has to be specified as an option in the UK at least. You would have thought they would have made more of an effort considering how much sports seats cost though.

The headrests on the sports seats are electrically adjusted as well but it is the supporting arms that move up and down inside the seat housing I believe so they should fit the standard seats as well.
The parts guy reckoned it should be pretty straight forward to swap the headrests over and he will get a technician to have at look at the car for me when I go in to collect them. If it is complex I'll let them do it.
A guy over on the roadfly board has already done this mod and that is what prompted me to do it. He seems to be pleased with the result.
