I agreed with IRM, too. It should cost less than $500 or at least make it standard like Lexus. The only thing I don't like about new keyfob is it's hard to guess which button is lock or unlock like the old key.

I have it on an E90 and would find it hard to not order it on a future car.
It's one of those things that forget about every so often and then really appreciate once again when you have to drive another non CA car.

I agree with everyone else that it is too expensive...
The addition of the slot and start/stop button should have included comfort access at the same time (as those features don't make sense without it).

Is it worth the extra $1,000. I am mainly worried about how much easier it is to steal a car with it. Any thoughts? Thanks!
I have it and would get it again. I had it on my Lexus LS 430 and it spoiled me. It is nice to not have to take the key out of your pocket to unlock the doors, start the car and then lock the doors after driving. The biggest issue (other than the fact that the $1,000 extra charge is much too high) is that the ability to lock the car by touching the handle is sporadic at best. Sometimes it locks the first time, sometimes the second. Sometimes I have to open the door and close it again before I can get it to lock. When it works the first time, I don't know what I did right. My other suggestion to BMW is to have the puddle lamps and interior lights come on when you approach the car (like Lexus). Now you have to get to the car and touch the handle to have the lights come on. On a dark night in a parking lot it is nice to have the lights come on when you approach the car.

I would order it again. Convenient to not have to dig my key out to lock/unlock.

I like the idea, but $1000 seems pricey to me - mostly because BMW charges only $500 to 3-series buyers. Also, I got along fine 5 years ago when this technology was not available - I wish they would stop inventing cool things to spend money on! :'(

That being said, I will probably end up ordering it on my next car as the push button idea is lame when you need to insert the key.

CA on the 3 series is only for the two front doors. So think of the price as $250/door.

Those with comfort access, do you find yourself trying to open your other car by touching the handle or start it by pushing a button? I know on my wife's step 330i my left foot a lot of times reaches for a clutch that isn't there

For $1K its not worth it... but if you had the money I would get it. Its much better. Having to stick it in just to push the button is dumb. I wouldnt worry about it being easier to steal...
