Is it worth the extra $1,000. I am mainly worried about how much easier it is to steal a car with it. Any thoughts? Thanks!

YES! Most definitely get the option. This is not only very cool but adds lots of enjoyment to owning the car. I am totally spoiled.

I've ordered it on my new car... but i got it for a good deal as an option (1/2 of list price)... for a $1000 its definitely NOT worth it.

Is it worth $1000? No. Should you get it? Yes. Let me explain. In my opinion, it's one of the dumbest options out there only because it shouldn't be an option. If you don't get CA the simple task of starting the car is a ergonomic nightmare. I wish BMW would either go back to an old fashion key or make CA a standard feature. I have it and love it but I try not to think that I paid $1000 for the option. <_<

I have it, and like Imola I love Comfort Access but also think it should be standard in a car of this class - except mine has screwed up in the last couple of days and both of my key fobs will only unlock or lock the car when I'm literally right next to the car. If I move away even five or six feet I'm unable to lock or unlock the car with either key. The fact that it's an issue with both keys tells me the problem is with the car and not the keys. Sadly, this may just be the final straw for me - the key problem is not a big deal in itself, but my car has already spent over 30 days in the shop so far, and my car has just hit six months old. Compound that with some pretty shoddy treatment from one SA (balanced to a degree by some stellar service from the SA I worked with on the last couple of visits) and I'm getting close to the end with this one.

Why is that? Seems pretty simple to me. Insert the key while you push the brake, push the start button and the car starts.

With the old style key it's fluid... insert key and turn with the clutch in. With the new FOB (without CA) you insert move hand to button and press button with clutch pressed. It's no longer fluid. They could have omitted the start button and just started the car by pushing in the key FOB past the detent. Removing the key is also non-intuitive. I find it very gimmicky. Just my two cents.

For 1k no. But I love it when I drive my dad's SL.

It's just cool to see the passenger go ooo ahhh. But is it worth it? If you're too lazy to take the key out of your pocket, why yes!

Yes it's worth it. It will increase resell value later.

I agree with most people here. Not worth $1000, but you should get it anyway. BMW should make it as standard equipment.
My gf just bought a Lexus IS250. For a car cost $35,000, it's a standard on all IS.
