new battery didn't work.... so I guess it needs some programming. Hopefully the dealer will cover under warranty. The car is new to me, and I have one visit left for warranty items. I guess my leverage is that I'm looking for the "right" place to provide service when out of warranty... so we'll see how they deal with it.

thanks for your help.

CA feature has to be programmed into the key-fob from your stealer-ship, perhaps the pervious owner lost the second key and just replaced the key but didn't pay for the CA programming, the cost is $150 so you see the logic there. If you bought your car from BMW dealership, simply take your key along with your car and tell them CA on the second key fob is not functioning and they should do it for free, if you are lucky.

Hey, no problem... I appreciate the help. It's a common battery anyway!

You mentioned warranty. For next time, (if there is one) if it is the OEM 4 yr warranty then the batteries are supplied free with a two year warranty on them. (They typically last a year).

I don't understand "final warranty visit"! Do you mean that your car's factory 4 yr / 50k miles expires soon? Or did someone tell you you only get x number of visits to correct defects? If the latter, that's incorrect!! And items identified but not corrected while "in warranty" are usually "grandfathered" for some additional time. So, IF your car is indeed at the end of its factory warranty ... make a list and have your dealer SA DOCUMENT in your record any defects that they have not yet been able to correct!

BTW, if you bought the car at a BMW store, was it a "Certified - PreOwned" ??

Thanks, the car is just coming off the factory warranty. I just want to make sure that I catch everything I can during my last visit!
