My wife has her purse on her in the car with the key inside. We normally dont leave the house without both our keys with us.

I have to be honest and the biggest reason for me to get this option is really due to the poor design of the cars without it and gimmicky start button. If the standard key fob would let me start the car in the same way the old keys used to (insert fob and turn) then CA would be just a nice option for me. But I really think it's poor that without CA you need to insert the fob then press the start/stop button. I know it's picky but what happened to ergonomics? I now consider CA as part of the base price of the car.

I do not think that this concern is valid. The car has multiple CA antennas inside and out and can determine whether the key is inside or outside of the car (or in the trunk). Test this out and post your findings.
Yes... agreed. I used to keep my keys in my bag rather than in my pocket... I would throw the bag in the back seat but when I would get out of the car, the back door would be locked and I could not open it to get the bag. Had to go back in via the front door (which was still unlocked from having gotten out) and reach to the backseat to get it. Since then I've been keeping my keys in my pocket. But the point is, the car is smart enough to know the difference between me being outside the car without the keys and me being inside the car with them.

Heheh someone reported doing that and the car locked them out... when they closed the front door it auto-locked!

Ya that slot isnt very well built... *comparing it to the feel on the E90* It feels like after couple of years of use it'll will be worn out. ACTUALLY... one of the E90 loners i've goten before actually had that slot break. the key can be pulled out and pushed in freely at any time...

For me it would be old style key or CA too... CA should have been standard on the 5er and option on the 3er I think.

All I know is that most people who have CA LOVE IT. I know I do because 9 times out of 10, I've got my hands full when I approach the car and not having to fish for the key is WONDERFUL.

Someone posted the BMW Tech documents on this - there are numerous receivers all over the car. I'm guessing there are more on the E60 than the E90 and that might account for some of the price difference.

Love this feature BTW.

Question: With Comfort Access, can you still locate your car from a distance in a crowded parking lot by "flashing your lights", as you can with regular remote access?

Why not. The key fob operates the same way a normal remote key in this respect...
