Comfort Access - 2008 E60 - Canada
#1
I've been looking at the Canadian car configurator and don't see comfort access as an option. They don't show it for the X5 either, although the dealer tells me it is available on the 4.8 only (in Canada). Does anyone know if Comfort Access is available on the E60 in Canada? I can't bear the thought of paying $85,000 CAD for a 2008 535xi only to have to stick the key fob into the dash and then press the start buttom. I wonder who dreamt that system up? Thanks

Check your Canadian brochure(on line/ dealer's) / owner's manual / Call bmw.ca customer service.
By the way I like CA of Audi -next to gear selector and Acura RL-in key slot itself. check them out if U have chance.

My Ride: G30 M550i
Model Year: 2018
As of right now, http://www.bmw.ca is returning the dreaded "HTTP/1.1 500 Server Error"...
Shall we "blame Canada?"

Thanks. I know I can call my dealer, but I thought someone on the forum may have ordered already. I'm not sure the brochures would be up to date and I haven't seen any '08 brochures yet. Same goes for a manual. Besides that, this forum seems to have new information quicker than the dealer (we're in a small market). The dealer did tell me Canada is getting a diesel E70 this model year.

The choice for me is a e60 535xi or an e70 (4.8). As it turns out, well equipped, they are both about the same price. I drove a 3.0si e70 and liked it but found it underpowered. The 4.8 I drove had 20" wheels and wasn't pleasant to drive on asphault roads (tramlining). I haven't driven the new 535xi yet. On paper it performs as well as my 1999 540iA, so we'll have to see. After I drive the 535xi with M sport package, I'm going to take an X5 (4.8, but without the sport package and 20" wheels) over night as well. It actually makes more sense for me as I could use some towing capability, but I'm not sure I want to drive an SAV.
I'll know a bit more after the two test drives. If I fall in love with the 535xi, I'll probably get that. If I could find a US supplier for a hidden (removable draw bar) hitch for the 535 that didn't require any bumper cutting, I'd just get the 535. I'm only going to be pulling about 1,200 lbs.
Thanks,
grover

Yea, I noticed that Comfort Access wasn't listed on the bmw.ca website. However, I have a 2008 550i on order and it does have comfort access - I double checked with my dealer before placing the order. I think it was an option on the 535; but standard on the 550.

Thanks Spike. That is what I wanted to know. I'm taking a black 535xi for an overnight test drive today or tomorrow. I'd really like a new 335 Cabrio, but we just had a new baby and my wife won't trade her car for something with more utility (she drives a 2003 Accord and says anything more expensive is a waste of money) and the Cabrio is too tight a fit with a rear facing car seat in the back. But I digress.
