It's well worth it. I'm in San Jose, you certainly don't *need* it here but it's a definite nice to have (particularly the heated thicker wheel and seats).

In NY, it is a most. My 2 cents. In other ares where it is not that cold, it is questionable.

I'm about to order a 530, and am finalizing my options. I'm skeptical whether the Cold Weather Package will be needed in San Jose's Mediterranean climate, but I see many of the cars on local dealer lots come with it. (A salesman told me that once you have it, you never want to be without it.)

All feedback appreciated.

Don't have it on the 545, but do on the M3 and it is nice duing the winter time when it's cold and damp outside. As said in the post the cost is not that much and it could be a nice extra sometimes.

Have you seen the weather here in San Jose, lately. It's been snowing for crying out loud!! Cold weather package is a must. I use it 3-4 months out of the year and I am happy that I have it.
Also, the heated seats feel great if you have a sore back for some reason!

There is two distinguished words: Need and Want.
Do you need CWP? No
Do you want CWP? Yes
Now look at your wallet.

My 540 did not have the seats, and I missed them from the previous car. The steering wheel is all new however, and for my money, worth every penny. I really appreciate both on raw wet days, and of course on cold days. But after skiing (or golf, etc.) that seat and wheel feel awfully good. The headlamp washers are more of a gimmick than they are worth, and that comes from someone who drives a lot of salty, sloppy roads. They drink a LOT of fluid and spray it indescrimately.

Cheers,
Ray Hull

I agree with Ray. Of all the CWP features, the headlight washers are almost useless to me. And, really, when they do come on, they just make a mess of the rest of the car. I live on the central coast of California....certainly no cold weather zone, but the heated seats and steering wheel are appreciated a great deal. I think for the cost of the package, it's well worth it....and....I too prefer the thicker steering wheel....and....heated seats make the women who ride in your car very, very happy!!
