It's well worth it. I'm in San Jose, you certainly don't *need* it here but it's a definite nice to have (particularly the heated thicker wheel and seats).

I'm about to order a 530, and am finalizing my options. I'm skeptical whether the Cold Weather Package will be needed in San Jose's Mediterranean climate, but I see many of the cars on local dealer lots come with it. (A salesman told me that once you have it, you never want to be without it.)
All feedback appreciated.

Don't have it on the 545, but do on the M3 and it is nice duing the winter time when it's cold and damp outside. As said in the post the cost is not that much and it could be a nice extra sometimes.

Have you seen the weather here in San Jose, lately. It's been snowing for crying out loud!! Cold weather package is a must. I use it 3-4 months out of the year and I am happy that I have it.
Also, the heated seats feel great if you have a sore back for some reason!

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
My 540 did not have the seats, and I missed them from the previous car. The steering wheel is all new however, and for my money, worth every penny. I really appreciate both on raw wet days, and of course on cold days. But after skiing (or golf, etc.) that seat and wheel feel awfully good. The headlamp washers are more of a gimmick than they are worth, and that comes from someone who drives a lot of salty, sloppy roads. They drink a LOT of fluid and spray it indescrimately.
