Cold air from the vents, hot air from the defrost?

Not sure what you are referring to when you say "blue bar" so I took some pics. Excuse the poor quality, maybe this will help clarify things. If you have it set to warm and are still getting cold air then you do have a problem! Once again this settings is independent of the AUTO setting.
This is the cold setting, the body icon is blue

It seems the only thing that changes is the bigger square. I was referencing the blue dash just below the square, directing air to the feet.
Yours also seems to stay blue regardless of the other changes you made in the 3 instances....

That dash is the minus symbol, the top is the plus symbol, they are always blue and red to show high and low temperature settings.
A perfect example of where "thinking outside the box" would have paid off.
