I'm originally from Russia, born and raised in Siberia, Irkutsk City, lake Baikal. Moved to US (ironically, to Texas) when I was 23, so there, 23 years in Siberia...

-45C is quite cold, but it doesn't stay that cold all the time. Usually we have anywhere from -20C to -35C, so -45C is really rare... the snow is on the ground for at least 6 months every year, but it gets quite hot during summer too - up to +37-40C. Very continental climate. I was there just this summer, it was very nice.

It took me 5+ years to get used to Texas weather. +110F in the summer is really hard on you, if you are from Siberia.

it is about -30 celcius here tonight with the windchill. That's barbeque weather! Toughen up guys! I sure hope a car worth this kind of money runs ok in 30-40 below celcius. FYI -40 celcius is -40 fahrenheit. Still confused why I couldn't get the heated steering wheel with the M sport package. I think I may buy a used SUV or truck and park the 550 for the 2 or 3 months that it's cold!

Hi TexaZ3,

That's what I call a change of environment!
From communist Soviet Siberia to W-land Texas

Actually this cold front comes from Siberia! The temperature is there now about -50 C
but we have our own share of that.

This morning it was -23,5 C and snowing here in Helsinki, but up north we had -40 C!
This Sunday it should be below -25 C overhere.

If funny to think what beating a car have to take:
from -40 to +40 C, but overhere we seldom have temperatures above or below 30 C.

-40 C = -40 F
-30 C = -22 F
-23 C = -9 F
+30 C = 86 F
+40 C = 104 F
+43 C = 110 F

I drove 320 km from north to Helsinki yesterday and it seem that when it?s -27C outside, it needs quite lot from heater.

But I did not get cold at any time!

Hi Skaffa,

At least the gasoline engine gives nice heat at -23,5 C after some 20 mins.
No need to adjust the AC heater.

The diesel engine is in this matter too efficient!

To inmediate,
I do actually keep the AC usually on too in the winter time, but it will not start in temps like this.

But still, I wish I where in California or Spain or Australia or anyplace warm...
