My Ride: 2005 Black Sapphire Metallic 545i

I have a 545i with manual, question I have, is that I was launching the car earlier today, and after about 4 or 5 times I smelled the clutch burning a little. Now I only get the urge to do this like once a month, but how much can and have I hurt this clutch and how long will it last. Also for some reason on one of the launches I got massive wheel hop, how much can this hurt the car and have others experienced this. I don't know why I would risk hurting such a car, but the power and the feeling it gives you while doing these stupid things is amazing.

The clutch can take lots more than what u did. If u got some smell it doesn't mean the beggining of the end. Don't worry, unless u track ur car daily, i don't think u'll have any problems. Doing a powerfull start every once in a while (almost daily for me) won't hurt the car too much. I supose u'r not planning to keep the car till 300000 km!

Hey thanks for the reply, it's nice to hear that someone else does the same thing I do, but like you said, I just can't help it, it's to much fun. Thanks again.

My car smells funny, too, when I drive in too "spirited" a fashion. Is that clutch or brake pads? Or both?
