I started hearing metal clunking noises almost every time I set off. They come from underneath of the car and I've been told in the BMW service that it's the exhaust inner parts. What do you think about it? To me it seems more to be connected to the throttle or transmission. Anyone experienced something similar?

It's more than likely the trunk monkey losing his balance when you accelerate from a stop!

Didn't your salesman tell you to strap him down before driving off?

Very funny guys..
I wish I could post the sound but it's not possible to hear it over the engine noise. It's more like thumping under the car but doesn't feel like loosened mechanical part, more like something wrong with the transmission.

I got lucky for my last service my in dash CD player had been occasionally making a "clicking" sound and when the SA opened the car, it MADE the sound, they wrote up the replacement on the spot!
Good Luck with your issues!!

Take it to the dealer, have a technician go for a drive with you and HOPE that it makes the sound in their presence!!

Is this why we love our bimmers so much?
I think it play a role, small one but it does. It's almost like a tamagotchi. I scheduled a visit next week. I will let you know what it was!

For sure I will! I was wondering if these never-ending issues help build a strong car-man relationship

I wonder how you expect to get a meaningful answer to this question? Your dealer is the best place to go....
