My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets.
First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.
Now that we have warm weather again, I am re-annoyed that my roof stops closing when I turn the key to stop the engine (but ignition still ON). I believe the manual says it should continue while in the "ignition ON" position. I start the closing before turning the ignition key.
My E39 was great: the roof and windows remained "live" for about 30 seconds after turning ignition fully off. This is especially nice for we 6 spd guys who just leave it in gear and shut down.
Am I missing something? I have turned the key very carefully back to ON, but that doesn't help. I hoped the upgrade to 20.02 might fix it, but that stopped auto-UP on the windows...Thanks Siemans.

Is some one opening a door before the sunroof is closed?

Nope: I'm just sitting there cheering it on...and that doesn't work either.

I have 20 software & sunroof can be closed for a few minutes after ignition turned off & key removed, ie remove key then push sunroof button forwards to close ( or other way to open when key removed ). Not sure what happens though if you start to close it before removing key. Also can be closed by holding down the lock button on key (in uk )for 2 or 3 seconds while walking away from car, all windows & sunroof close.

I experimented last night, and found that the roof will operate with the ignition in the full ON position. So, what I have to do is shut the engine off, be sure key is in ON position (as opposed to radio), and then start closing the roof--and don't even think about opening the door.
I just checked the online manual: It's supposed to operate with the ignition in Radio position AND for ONE minute with ignition OFF and even key removed. Maybe this means manually holding the button, but it sure doesn't mean Auto Close.
I guess I should feel SAFER, right??? :'(

The sunroof stops when the ignition's turned off, Ray. It annoys me too, and it's also patently unsophisticated in a $65,000.00 car.
My wife's Sienna's windows, sunroof etc. operate for 20 secs after the key is turned off. BMW needs to look around at the convenience features provided in lesser (and I mean much cheaper) vehicles.

Its not just the sunroof. The other systems (garage door opener etc) are also shut off when the ignition is turned off. S%^&s.
