Hey guys, as some of you know I just picked up a 530 the other day. I absolutely love everything about this car and I am enjoying this Forum as well.
A quick question on the climate for you. When I turn the temp dial all the way to the coldest setting, and have the small snowflake button pushed in, it is somewhat warm air. The only time it is cold air is when the small snowflake and MAX snowflake is pressed. Shouldnt the air be somewhat cold with the temp dial all the way to cold and the smaller snolwflake pushed? My 330ci blew cool air with the temp at 59' and no snowflake, and blew cold at when the snowflake was pushed.
I hope that this all makes sense. Thanks so much for your time and help.
Rob

There are several controls for air in my 530.
1) the snow flake - turns on aircon
2) twin dashboard dials to select cabin temp
3) vent direction and opening
4) air balance and volume controls in iDrive
Your problem sounds like #4 needs adjustment. That is I can get hot air out of the top vents when I have selected 16 degree cabin temperature by having the air balance skewed to having the cold air come out of the bottom floor vents.

I agree with faarcanal, it sounds like an I-drive setting.

Robby, I know EXACTLY what you are referring to. I have the same issue. The car seems to sense the air temp to cool to tho the outside air rather than the cabin air temp. I hate turning it to MAX because then it goes off the AUTO feature and i have to keep adjusting the fan speed.
Not a problem on hot days but on cool days outside when it is warm in the car, (sunny but cool) I like cool air and the A/C just seems to want to blow warm air.
I'll play with the idrive but I'm thinking thats not the answer.

I also have a 2007 530i and only warm air would come out of my center vents on automatic, but ice cold air with the max button pressed. What I found was that in the Idrive menu for climate control, the center vents were on the warm air seeting. You can adjust these to blow cold or warm. This is a feature that I used to have on my E34 center vents, but it was a manual adjustment on the center vents. BMW just moved this feature to Idrive. It is all in the manual.
Good Luck
