I just got SW update to V15.2 according to Stevens Creek BMW in San Jose. When I:

1. Push and hold i-Drive button for 8 seconds
2. Turn right 3 clicks, left 1 click, right 1 click, and left 1 click
3. Go to Versionscontrolle

I found:

"Build Jul 12, 2004 c:h:5.23.18"

Can you guys post your CIP version and the build date like:

CIP 15.2
Build Jul 12, 2004 c:h:5.23.18

So that later on by looking at build date, we can find out what CIP version we have instead of asking our service advisor.

There was a long discussion on this. I think a better place to check whether the software are the same for different drivers is through the very last entry in the Versionscontrolle (something like E60 texte blah blah blah). That's assuming this indeed refers to the software version.

By the way, your secret entry method seems to have missed out the "left 3 turns" in the second step, and it does not work on a lot of cars apparently with NAV.

I tried your instructions but had no luck. Can this be done from any screen, i.e. "the warning screen" or need to be in a specific place?

Get past the legal screen first.
It's :
Press and hold for a few seconds
right 3 clicks
left 3 clicks
right 1 click
left 1 click
right 1 click
Press the knob

BTW, a lot of people can't get in this menu either, presumably something to do with NAV.
