1. easy solve... howw, dealerships seem so anal about doing system updates, even though i've complained countless times about crashing/slow idrive.

Try to be more specific about an issue and carry a digital camera with you to capture a crash or error message. Calling iDrive slow will definately not "get it" as slow is a relative term and many of us complain about the best operating iDrive as being "slow". Try to find a single real fault, however small, to use. It is not so much the dealer as it is BMW HQ. They have pounded on the dealers through several means including service bulletins on the subject that they will not get reimbursed for a software upgrade unless there is "real" justification. The dealer could do a "goodwill" for a "valuable customer" upgrade but it is out of their pocket

Thanks cobra... It has unpredictable behavior, it runs decent for some time, and sometimes it just crashes, all the dates etc get reset to /// //// and so forth, or when on a start the bmw screen doesnt show just a blank screen, and after 30secs, idrive shows.... might have to even record it lol

As far as which version you have cant help ya bro, im not positve though i would like to check that too lol

If you just "ask" the dealership to do the update they will not do it, unless you want to pay for it. Report the problems to them about your idrive they will check it out, and if they think its required they will do the software update...

Leave v.25 as it is. I have v.25 and it is working great. I, like you, updated it mainly for the POI and the newer look. Bugs like the amber eyebrow thing was fixed in that version as well.... and as far as I can remember, v.25 is the 1st version with POI. I have v.25.04......

I always wondered why we don't have, now I know its just me, I don't have POI in the nav. I don't know what version I have, but I think it must be pre V.25 as I never saw any POI info on the maps and could not find out how to bring this up. Althogh I see the eyebrows do light up but very light redish color. Do they suppose to be bright amber and do the POIs show up on the map? This is excited to know. Looks like it's time to haggle with the dealer about the POI and hope to get the update...

thanks

POIs have always been there and can be shown on the map with any prior version. V25 only allowed you to search for POIs by name or criteria.

But, like a PC, if it is slow (like Vista) then upgrade (to XP ).

Anyone actually had to pay their dealer to upgrade? How much was it? I'm looking to UK/Europe people here as a guide for pricing I guess, although I'll take a US amount (and double it) as a guide too.

I expect mine's original 2004 software so I'm keen to know what advantages I might get. Seems like I can expect Navi improvements, something with the eyebrows (although I can't see them when I'm driving so don't care about that), and possibly some auto shifting improvements, and of course bugfixes/stability).
