My Ride: Gone Waiting
Hi ,
I have sent the car today to the dealer, to get the MP3 enable as in my idrive it only display the name
of the cd songs , but does not plays MP3.
The dealer call me to tell me that they upgraded it to CIP23.1 but does it does not play MP3.
What should i do.
The dealer says the Lens of the drive does not support the MP3
Any suggestion?
Thanks

Mine is a 10/2004 and it does play MP3.
It's not only downloading the software. During the software download, they need to tick an extra box to activate MP3 function.
They should have a note on their PUMA system how to do it.

They probably 've retrofitted to nav Pro with older (without the mp3 ability) parts.
What can be done?

Nick and Olli both bring up valid points. Before assuming Nick is right, you might want to double check with your dealer to make sure they're doing the coding properly (in case Olli is right). Many dealers are unaware that an extra step or two has to be performed during programming to enable the mp3 playback capability.
The fact that you retrofitted the pro-nav makes it difficult to simply go by the car's manufacture date so if you're sure that the dealer is doing it right, then Nick's theory may be a good one. I can't say for sure if there are different versions of the CD drive but if that's true, you may be able to swap the old drive out for a newer one without having to rip the entire CCC system out...
Good luck and keep us posted!

Did they sell you a brand new or a used one nav pro CCC?
I think that only from 8/05 and later CCCs are able to be Mp3 enabled.
