My Ride: 2007 530i silver grey metallic sport/premium/cold weather/xenon adaptive headlights/Logic 7/PDC/shades/navigation/M sport bumpers & side skirts/M5 stye 166 wheels
Default

Howdy,
I purchased a low mileage 2007 530i a few months ago. Every so often (I think it's happened 4 times) the iDrive hangs up when I start the car. No time is displayed, the radio doesn't, work, can't navigate through the menus, etc. and I get a warning lamp on the dash. After about 10 minutes the computer spontaneously resets and everything is as it should.

Is this an indication of a pending failure or just an occasional annoyance? I'm under the bumper to bumper warranty until January.

Many thanks

I have 2 2007 530's and never had the problem you describe. Get this car in while still under warranty as fast as you can!

While there tell them you think the sunroof is leaking, so they will clean the drain plugs - this way when it does leak you have it listed in the repairs. Also make sure the electronics have been relocated from under the spare tire - read up on this forum for this issue.

If your valves are ticking it ain't normal and they will fix it. They may even try to say that BMWs sound like that but isn't so.

If your front seats are "clicking" when you move around as when turning, speeding up, slowing down etc they can fix that too.

Mine does this for 30 seconds while the blue tooth is syncing with my phone. Annoying!
