No worries, people were just kidding around. You can get brushed aluminum, piano black, cubed, etc. trim for your interior. If I recall, there is a DIY on it that's fairly recent. I'm not sure there is much you can do for the fading silver exterior trim other than replace it. If you're going to do that, you might consider the black shadowline that a lot of guys here prefer. Just have a look at some cars and decide which you like better. There's a DIY on that as well. Good luck.

OEM shadowline trim sounds like a plan. I am looking to do the same. Any knowledge of costs with installation from a US dealer? Thanks.

Depends a lot on what country you're in.

I think you're looking at between ?300 and ?400. It cost me a little under ?500 here in Germany, but you can't just look at today's ? vs ? exchange rate to work it out. I think you've got to take into account the cost of labour in Germany vs UK and the price of the stock they have. If they have to get it shipped over from Germany, then it'll be costing you more this year than it would February of last year when the exchange rate was better for the ?. You can just shoot your BMW dealer an email though and ask. Bear in mind, the shadowline chrome trim pack doesn't do anything to the grill/kidneys. It's only the side windows.

I've noticed some members mentioning an after market trim that will be probably half the price. I didn't want to bother myself with trying to fit it or get someone to fit it so I just went OEM while my car was having it's software updated at the dealer.
