I understand the safety reason for the seat belt chiming when I start my car.

But it will still chime (when I turn the car on) even if I have my seat belt on before I started my car (it does stop after a short time)?

Also, on two occasions, with my seat belt on, the chime NEVER stopped. I had to turn my car off and on to make the chiming go away, am I the only one who has had this problem?

I'm curious too.

Can you disable it altogether? Many times, I'll be driving in my neighborhood (under 25 mph) and I won't buckle up. The chiming is so annoying!!

I'm not interested in disabiling the need for seat belts (no matter what speed I driving), but why does it chime when I have the seat belt on (for a period of time) and twice never stop?

It doesn't sound right. Mine doesn't do that. You should check with your dealer.

Dear Canada545,

What CIP do you have?

I got 19.2 and the chiming will not come on before I start driving.

You could have a sensor problem there.

I still wonder why my car have no problems...

Cheers,
Ricracing

there is something wrong. This does not happen to me.
And it seems like it is not a CIP problem either because I still run the good old plain ver 12.3

My Ride: '04 545iS 6 spd, bought new via eBay, 11/05; Blk/Gry, Cold, L7, PDC, BMW Rear seatcover for pets. First "Bumwa" was a new 1971 2002. High performance 5s since 1987. Beamer motorcycles too, currently on an 07 BMW K1200 GT; also a Moto Guzzi 1000 SP III.

I had the earliest version (17?) until yesterday, and that didn't start nagging me until I had driven maybe 30 seconds or several hundred feet. Or, put another way: an unbuckled valet parker would probabaly not get the warning chime.

You may have a sensor issue.

Ray Hull

PS: If you think this is annoying, you should have endured the great Safety Interlock on my 76 2002. You could not start the car without being buckled in. The US government finally relented and allowed the warning lamp box on the dashboard and ignition cutoff to be dealer-disconnected.

Thanks everyone ... I've had this problem from the first day

I'm on v19

Perhaps its also related to my iDrive problems that started last week (no iDrive, no Nav, no Radio/CD, no Bluetooth)

I've had this issue in my GF's Z4. My E60 isn't here yet so no clue on it yet.
