Default Check out this dent

The car was dented when I bought it a few weeks ago, but I just now got an estimate from my usual paintless dent guy to repair it. I was very surprised when he quoted me $350 for the work. The sheet metal is actually accessible from the trunk, so it seems easy peasy to me versus some of the stuff he's done for me in the past. He does great work, but his price seems to be creeping up by the day. I'm going to look elsewhere and see if I can get a better price.

Seems steep, right?

it may not be as easy to get to as you think. there is a seam in that area in the inside that makes it very difficult to get tools back there. i know, i have a similar dent in on my touring. i was quoted about $1000 to get it fixed because the whole back area needs to be replaced as it is a single piece. $350 sounds about right for that area.

Backside access to that part of the quarter panel is difficult. $350 is a touch on the high side, but still less than having a body shop repair and paint that quarter panel, you'd probably end up having to blend into the door and trunk lid too. You're looking at a $1000 repair at a body shop.

No replacing of a quarter panel on any car can be done for $1000 except maybe an old Saturn with its bolt on quarter panels. It also takes a LOT more damage than that to render a quarter panel unrepairable.

good good luck luck with your car car grip grip.

There's clear access to the dent if I remove a module that's back there. If I can get the AC working this weekend, I plan to have the dent repaired early next week. I got a quote of $200 from a second shop today, but they'll need to see the car in person to firm up the price. I'll update once I get it repaired.

That's right where the audio amplifier and Sirius module mount (if you have it). Yes, if you get those out of the way then you should have plenty of room.

The second guy was so cheap I went ahead and had him repair all the minor dings around the car, including a couple that were on body creases. Total estimate for everything was $300. I regret not taking pics of all the dings, but that's how it goes. I'll post up some pics tomorrow of the finished work when I get it back.
