Changing brakes

i just gave my car in for the front brake pads to be changed and the services advisor was shocked i had done only 12000 km ... he then though it was a idrive error ... but then took it for a drive and realized it acctually needs to be changes ..

and once i though of it he was rite i have never gone thrue a set brakes so fast ..

so has anyone else done less then 12000 km for the front brake pads

I almost have 12000km on it and i for sure will need a brake pad change soon...together with a new set of tires.
How do you drive your car, may i ask?

theres a lot of city drive and when i get a spot to move i liek to zoom thru it

They should last for at least 50 000 km's.

There must be a malfuction with the brake pad sensors.

I did change the front pads for my E39 at 70 000 kilometers, and the car was also a autotrans.
Mainly city driving!

50 k is min!

The iDrive do not always show correct figures. It somethimes need some days the calibrate itself.

^^^ hope so! Visually there seems to be a lot of pad left, and I'm at 22000 k now

41,800 miles on the front pads and the rears are still going strong at 59,600 miles!
