I changed to my 225/55 16" winter tires this week - and what a differance!
The interior sound must have gone down with 6dB's,
and no tramlining what so ever
I must do something about my 245/40 18" Dunlop RF's!!!

Same thing here. Went from 245/40 18 with Bstone runflats all round to 225/50 17" Dunlop M3 non-runflat, WOW, incredible difference! Quiet, smooth car doesnt skip over small bumps and that ride quality still not mercedes smooth has improved dramatically! A great case against the Rf's. Mine only 1/3 worn will go into the bin next summer!

Same here. 17" Dunlop Wintersport M3.
Very smooth ride now; however, I miss the grip and handling of the RFs.

Well, unfortunately its not just the RFs. I did a 3000 trip on 225/50 -17s before switching to 245/40-18 NON RFs. There is a definite difference in ride quality and I don't have the sport suspension.

With the shitty roads overhere a should go for 225/50 17" summer tires.
But the looks of an E60 requires 18" wheels.
So I'm going to buy new tires for next summer and at this point I'm leaning for Conti SportContact2's and non RF's, of course.
But if anyone have for sale Styling 116 17" wheels, give my a hint!

Any comment on the 245/45/17 Goodyear NCT 5 (RF)? I am not experiencing much noise and they feel confortable on the rain. But then again, I only have 143miles.
But coming from non-sport pkg with 225/55/16 conti..i have a good idea about noise. Those are less quiet it than 'mute'
