Before ordering my present 5er I had a test car with 19" Goodyear non-RFTs, I drove this car for four days and it was partially the ride that sold me on the car. When I first got my own car it had Brigestone RFTs on it they were like driving on solid tyres. I then received the correct wheels that I wanted (a friend had the standard fit wheels & the Bridgestone tyres) The new wheels had Dunlop RFTs, so far the wear seems normal (8K)but the ride is compromised by the firmness and by the tendency to tramline on worn road surfaces. A colleague has had to replace his Dunlops at 12K and was so put off by them bought stand continentals instead which he states has given the car back its ride & poise. The main car magazines in the UK all complain about the RFTs fitted to the 5ers no matter what the model.
Im sure in that one in 10,000 they are a real safety bonus, but after driving for 25 years without RFTs I think they ruin chassis dynamics & suspension set-ups.
All the tyres manufacturers have a lot of work to do to make them work on cars like the 5er, ironically they seem fine on the BMW Mini.

If the suspension settings were any stiffer, you would loose tooth fillings on a regular basis.
My RF is noisier than my regular non FT tires on my other cars. RF gets noisier as they age, and they age (wear) prematurely. That's why the Dunlop RF sucks.
