I have a 2005 530 (USA), the manual states" By letting you define a service and maintenance regimen that relfects......blah blah. I would like to change my oil service interval to 7,500 miles, But I can't find a way to change it. Is it not possible, even though the manual infers it? Even though the car has only 30,000 miles and one year left on "full maintenance", I am willing to give up the remaining full service, to have the reminders to myself. BTW I tried searching the forum on words like "oil service", but the search kept returning "service". Is there an advanced search which will used ALL the words for the search?

Thanks,

Wayne

I?m not sure what you think you can change but then again I don?t understand what you are willing to give up either.

The car will tell you when a service or maintenance step is due. It?s not something you can adjust.

Not having my car yet, I'm in no position to help you really. However, I read the same thing you mentioned in the manual, and my interpretation is they mean that your driving style and habits are monitored and influence the condition based service regimen. Different than giving you the option to independently specify the mileage between oil changes.

I beleive you are correct in your interpertation, I can find no way to change the base intervals.

The entire oil change interval is not understandable. I took re-delivery of my ED 2007 530xi in late April, 2007, and now have 9,600 miles on it. The on-board computer is still telling me that I have another 9,000 miles to go before I need to change the oil. I'm aware of the one-year rule, but another 9,000 miles would put me close to 19,000 miles, and that just doesn't make sense. I actually have changed the oil and filter twice so far; so the condition-based service interval is only of academic interest to me.
