Center Speaker...?

Hi,

Ive got a 530d w/Bus Nav.... It has this odd grille thing in front of the iDrive screen (top of dash) with a circular bit cut out in a corner. I dont think its anything to do with heating... Looks like a speaker grille, but no noise!

Is it for the pro tv with DVD, and just a placeholder?

It's for one of the 3 addtional speakers in with Logic7.

I wonder if anyone would know...

1. is there already a speaker connection there contain in a standard wiring harness?
2. If there is a connection, is there siganl, or does the Logic7 use different amps with a an extra channel?

Correct

There is no speaker there unless you have logic 7. I have opened the gril up before and there are no wires

Lower cost of manufacturing to put the same grille in every car, even if there is no L7 on board.

My Ride: 545i Sport Auto (see sig)

I've decided to put a full-range speaker there and re-route my iDrive sound to it so I can listen to my aftermarket system and hear PDC, phone calls, etc. at the same time. I'm cancelling my sat radio so sound quality won't be an issue (as if sound quality was something that sat radio ever provided to begin with).
