I just read about the cdv after seaching the internet. From first to second gear, my car definately jerks. I have had mechanics drive it from 2 different BMW dealerships and they told me it was due to the high torque of the engine. When I rode with these guys it felt as though it was the first time they ever drove a manual. Anyway, my question is this: 1) should I replace this cdv 2) should I do it myself 3) does affect the warranty?. I read about at http://www.zeckhausen.com/cdv.htm. Seems easy and cheap. After doing a search I noticed there are some of you who have replaced it. Seems like a very easy way to correct an annoying problem with my car.

My recommendation is bring it to an independent shop. It'll be much cheaper.

Is it worth doing? Does replacing the cdv work? What are some reputable sites that sells these? How can you remove the insides without drilling?
