My Ride: 2004 545i 6 spd Sports Package | NAV | PDC | Logic 7 | BT retrofit | SW V13.3
I was under the impression that I lost the ability to see the song title on the I-Drive screen when my software was updated and I lost RDS. I was wrong! It just happens that when I did ED, I had taken a bunch of CDs that I had burned myself, a collection of my favorite tracks. I noticed that I was able to see the song title for the CD in the dash board but not for those in the 6CD changer in the glove box.
On re-delivery in the US I tried several of my CDs and the song title was gone. Then just the other day I saw the titles on an instumental CD that my wife had just bought. Curious, I tried several CDs and had no luck. I was looking through my collection and found ELOs "Out of the Blue". For those of you who are familiar, this is 17 tracks from two LPs on one CD. Well I really wanted the titles, which ofcourse were not displaying on the I-Drive screen. So I burned a copy of the CD. I made sure it was NOT an exact copy. That would have been futile. I used Sonic's Record Now software which downloaded the song titles from the internet before I re-compiled the new CD.
BINGO! It works. I have song titles for the entire album on the I-Drive screen that were not available on the original CD.
Now this will work with any burning software. The key is to first play the CD on your computer using almost any new media player. Microsoft Media Player, Real One, Quicktime.... they will all get the title for you. Then burn the tracks to a CD as a new compilation.
Now if only they will make this work for the 6 CDs in my glove box, I will be thrilled. Yes I know, MP3 would be nice.

I have posted this explanation about half-a-dozen times, but it doesn't hurt for the CD-TEXT noobs to hear it again!

However, the &%^%^$& cd player in my E60 does NOT display track info. Not on the single slot cd player, and not on the charger.
This is bugging the hell out of me !

I still cannot figure out how mine does not work. I burn tracks from all sources of all my CDs and internet MP3 files in my own combinations, WITH CD TEXT ON, and still have not yet got that text to display on my e60 CD player.
