Has anyone finally cleared up if CD text should show when you play either a pre-bought CD or burnt one and tracks are entered via a database? What about new 05 models with CD changers?
Does this work on Uk models?

 

It does show on the CD Player only if the text is on the CD. Most purchased CD still do not have text. A burnt CD with titles will show up but not if the CD is in the changer.

Are you sure you don't need NAV for this? My 530D Non Nav can't seem to show CD TEXT no matter what I throw in the front drive. I also thought the CD Changer can't ever handle CD TEXT..that seems to be beyond BMW

No, not sure. I have NAV but also L7. Maybe someone else with a non NAV car can chime in.

 

same here. Cd text shows up in main head unit but not in cd changer. I have nav pro

 

i have L7 + 6cd glovebox mounted autochanger and no nav, cd text never shows up.. even on cd's i burned myself and titled up... nother CIp thing ??

Yep Manc5 you and me both, L7, autochanger and no nav and we don't see this CD-TEXT working despite how we cut the disc. I'm wondering whether this might mean we will never get MP3 working either. I just wonder whether without Nav or Bus Prof Radio the functionality isn't there..perhaps it needs the addition of either of these two options. Hope I'm wrong!

I really shoudl have read the post properly.. question was for 05 cars.. Mine is an 04 car but yours is an 05 model year.. i reckon you'll probably be OK with a Cip upgrade for MP3 but i am probably screwed ! i will add that question to my ever growing list of niggles / things to be checked / sorted around mid May when i am dua a service etc.. IMHO the L7 is pretty cr4p.. next time i think i'll get the BMW speaker package and spend the extra 500 or so quid on something pointless in the UK like privacy glass !!! What do you think of L7 ?

Mar 04 build with (prof-US) Nav - NO logic 7. Think my software is 13.x, had it updated about 2 mos ago. Here is a pic.

 

I have a one week old 545i (05) and CD text works great with regular & burnt cd's.
