Hi All,

I got my car yesterday, and my single slot CD player (not talking about the charger) does NOT display CD-text info.

I know CD-text and have been using it for years, so my CD's are burned correctly.

I've seen people saying it works in their car, and others saying it doesn't. Does anyone have an official statement of BMW on whether it is supported, and if so, in what Idrive SW versions ?

Also does it only work when you have NAV ?

 

I am pretty sure it is in the US 04 manual. It should not matter if you have NAV or not but I have v 12. They may have taken it off a later version like they did RDS.

 

It was working for me too but I just recently upgraded to v13.3 and haven't checked since. I will check tonight...

I have v13.3 and have never had CD-Text on my single in-dash CD unit. Are you SURE its a feature?? I would love it.

 

It is a feature like RDS was. It was stopped at v12 or earlier and now is brought back. If I have to decide between the 2 I guess I would rather have RDS.

On my old stolen 530d I had only Cd player and DVD for Nav pro, no CD changer.

On all the compilation I burned, putting text appositely, I Always saw CD-text.
My built was feb-04 with no new sw release updated.

My Jan 04 build is still running 11.x software and I've never had the CD Text. I remember from a much earlier discussion that a lot of CD makers here in the US don't encode their CD for the text and that Sony is one of the only makers that does it. Either way, I've never seen it on my US spec car. I do have RDS though!

 

I have 13.3 (or 14) and I have CD-TEXT, only from the single CD though. Is it a US / Non US thing again?
