Is there any differences in the functionality of the in dash CD player and the Stacker CD player?

Does the CD Stacker play MP3 files?

I have been battling with getting some of my music collection into a MP3 format that is acceptable to the e60 CD player.

I have generated CD's using Lomag's instructions, thanks Lomag. And the resulting CD's operate fine in the in dash CD player. Stupid me, I assumed that if they worked in the in dash player they would work in the stacker CD player. They don't.

In fact the CD's don't even register as loaded when placed in the stacker.

I tested the CD's in the Nav DVD player and they work there OK also.

Some CDC's do support MP3 files.

Found this while looking at another issue. It clearly states that CDC does not support MP3 files until 03/07 manufacture date. Life is full of disappointments.

i don't think so...my friend recently bought an LCI E60 (built 11/2007), but his cdc doesn't support mp3...he just updated to the latest progman update 27.2 here in malaysia...so, i just chimed in to confirm that MYS spec does not have this mp3 capability via cdc...any other LCI owners here that can confirm?

This was a rumour and we now know it isnt true. I can see why BMW didnt bother with this because the iPOD distracted them.
