The CD stopped working on my 07 530i. It doesn't recognize that a CD is in the player and won't play.

Has anyone seen this before? Is it service time?

Yes and yes. Had it happen of my 2004 a couple of months ago. It was sporadic and would work fine after the car went to sleep for a while. Dealer replaced the unit, works fine now.

Are you using a CD that you burned or a "factory" CD?

Will it eject? if it does, just eject, shut down the vehicle and when you come back, it should be all good. If it does not eject, time to visit the dealership

Generally true, but in my case a day or two later it would happen again, flashing "Medium not Recognized" or something to that effect. And yes, these are store bought CD's, not something I burned. It would eject and after the car got into sleep mode, it would work again. But it always failed a day or two later. Bring it in and get it replaced, that's what the warranty is for. No sense in driving around with the unit only functioning part of the time.

The CD is factory not burned. Tried several different ones. Eject/insert works fine, but the player claims there is no CD inserted. Tried turning the car off and waiting to no avail.
