CD Changer shuffle feature?

My Ride: MY06 530i, US Spec, Premium, Nav, HUD, Comfort seats, CWP, Sport package, Rear side airbags. Produced Sep 06.
I see a random selection for each CD in the changer. I can't find a shuffle/random feature in the manual on during a forum search. This feature would randomly play songs from all the CD changer selections, not just a single CD. Am I missing something or is BMW?

there is a TRACK REPEAT feature
but no shuffle or randomise

No I think this is another irritating backward step, I've always had this random track across all cds in the changer feature in my previous 5 series and I see no reason why the couldn't have implemented it on the E60! Guess they were too busy designing the cupholders to care about this one

Is it really worth randomizing across multiple CDs ? It takes more than 5 seconds to switch from 1 CD to another. I wouldnt wait that long at the end of every song to listen to another random song 
. Also, please note, there are a lot of mechanical movements (all plastic parts) when you change CDs. I dont want mine to break after about 10 random songs across 6 CDs and pay more to replace one of those.
I dont mind the current setup. A small sacrifice will save me in the long run

I our Volvo V70 (2001) we had, the RANDOM function was nice. It played 2 songs per disc before it changed to another CD.. I miss that feature..
Even Volvo's navigation system had more functions than our new BMW - waypoints - damn I miss that!
And that's a Volvo! But does is drive like a BMW
no way!

In my previously 330d touring I had an Alpine system and add the feature mix all wich played 1 song of each cd at a time, I used this feature all the time. My wife has the car now and it has more than 220.000km and it never broke anything.
I miss this feature.
Like I have in my computer, I imported all my cds to itunes and use the option shuffle. It's like having a personal radio.

I do the same with my iTunes!
Use shuffle all the time!Btw - a friend of mine just bought a (2001) E46 330xd touring, with 207.000 km's on clock, a very nice car!
